What we stand for

Founding Principles

A cooperative in formation, for founders the industry was built to exploit.

The OoSo Covenant

Seven commitments, written into the architecture.

Hold us to them.

01

Your archive is yours.

Plain text on your machine. Leave anytime and take everything.

02

Consent trains the co-author.

It learns from what you give it. Nothing scraped. Nothing stolen.

03

You are the author.

The system assists. The tending stays human.

04

Lineage is structural.

Every piece carries the teachers it stands on. Not citing is epistemicide.

05

Rhythm over volume.

Your Studio composes at your pace. The algorithm waits.

06

No predtech.

No dark patterns, no hostage data, no surveillance business model.

07

Honesty about the tool.

AI carries contested histories and real costs. We choose right-sized models and local options, and we refuse to pretend this makes it clean.

Your data

What this means for your data

We separate your data by architecture, because the architecture is what actually protects it. Here is exactly where each kind of it lives.

Your body of work lives on your machine.

Your essays, frameworks, client notes, archive. Plain text on your own hard drive, structured in Obsidian. We never see it. We never touch it. The co-author reads it locally. It belongs to you in the most literal sense: we could disappear tomorrow and your Obsidian vault keeps working.

Your performance data lives in France.

When OoSo Studio pulls signal from your social accounts, ad platforms, GA4, and CRM, that data needs a home that isn’t your hard drive. It lives on Clever Cloud servers in France.

France is the country that ended its Palantir contracts. Palantir built its business on surveillance infrastructure for ICE, predictive policing, and military targeting. France looked at that and said no. We are building on the infrastructure of that refusal.

Your performance data is protected under GDPR standards, extended to every member wherever they live. We hold that floor for everyone, because the protection should not depend on your passport.

You can download all of it whenever you want. You can ask us to delete it whenever you want, and we finish deletion within 7 days. This data serves your Studio and nothing else: it does not train our models, improve our product, or leave your account.

Your AI co-author is yours.

You bring your own key, your own account, no markup. Claude is our recommendation, and Gemini, OpenAI, and Ollama are fully supported. You bring your own key to whichever one you choose, and you can switch anytime. We do not sit between you and your co-author.

The declaration

We are not for sale.

No venture round is coming. No one is grooming this for acquisition, and there is no IPO waiting at the end of the road.

OoSo Studio is building toward member ownership, patronage dividends, and a cooperative federation of tools and services that generate real wealth for the people inside them.

This is a founding declaration. The kind you can hold us to.

Why we exist

The technology industry extracts from the communities it claims to serve.

BIPOC founders, queer founders, disabled founders, neurodivergent founders. Women building real bodies of work in hostile markets. People whose labor, language, and lived knowledge train the models that are then sold back to them at a premium.

We were those founders.

We built OoSo Studio because we needed infrastructure structured the way we wanted to build our own companies. Held by the people inside it, accountable to the communities it serves, and built to generate dignified prosperity instead of noble poverty.

Dignity means founders who thrive, land that is tended, elders who are held. That is what OoSo Studio’s success is for.

Our structure, honestly

OoSo Studio is currently founder-led by Ixchel Lunar and Jaimey Walking Bear.

We are building toward formal cooperative incorporation on a Mondragon-informed model.

Mondragon grew from Basque resistance to Franco’s fascist Spain. People who were economically excluded and politically targeted built their own infrastructure. That exclusion is the root of why it worked.

What is true right now

  • No outside investors, no acquisition path, no IPO, ever.
  • OoSo Studio members shape the product roadmap through direct input.
  • Every tool we build is designed so you leave with everything.
  • We use every tool we sell. We built them because we needed them.
  • The founders are the people the extractive industry was designed to exploit.

What we are building toward

  • Formal cooperative incorporation
  • Member governance with voting rights
  • Patronage dividends tied to tenure and participation, informed by REI, Mondragon, and other cooperative models
  • A cooperative federation as OoSo Studio’s offerings grow

We will tell you where we are in that process, honestly. This founding declaration is the commitment, and we will keep showing you the receipts on the way there.

Our technology principles

We are an anti-predtech company.

Predtech extracts behavioral data to sell back to the communities it surveils. It trains models on your voice and your client relationships and calls that a feature. It holds your archive hostage behind a subscription and calls that a service.

Every structural choice OoSo Studio makes has a name. Every name has a reason. We will tell you both.

Your body of work lives on your machine.

Plain text in Obsidian, on your own hard drive. We never see it and we never touch it. It is portable and model-agnostic, and it outlasts us.

Your performance data lives in France.

On Clever Cloud servers, protected under GDPR for every member regardless of where they live. You can download or delete all of it whenever you want. It does not train our models, improve our product, or leave your account. How the architecture protects it →

Your AI model is yours.

You bring your own key. You pay the provider directly, at their actual rates, with no markup from us. You switch anytime. Claude, Gemini, OpenAI, and Ollama are all wired in, and you choose which one reads your work. We do not sit between you and your co-author.

You leave with everything.

Every chat. Every draft. Every map. Exportable as markdown, forever. Leave anytime and take everything. The architecture is designed for our own obsolescence, and we built it that way on purpose.

Our economic principles

Regenerative economics means the system restores more than it takes.

Founders draw fair compensation.

We would rather say it plainly: the people who built this deserve to be paid well, and dignified prosperity for them is a cooperative value in its own right.

The Future Path: member surplus returns to members.

As OoSo Studio generates profit, patronage dividends return to the people whose participation made that profit possible. Tenure and depth of engagement are what count here.

Compensation ratios are modeled from cooperatives, not the market.

The people inside OoSo Studio determine what fair looks like here. Outside investors and the market rates of extraction-built companies do not get a vote. Founders draw a 1:6 ratio, drawing no more than six times what the least-paid person in the cooperative draws.

Land is held as a regenerative act.

The founders of OoSo Studio are building toward land stewardship in the cloud forest bioregion of Xalapa, Veracruz. Tending land you will be returned to is an Indigenous economic value, and a cooperative one.

Who stands with us

OoSo Studio is BIPOC and queer founded.

Our members are founders who are queer, trans, nonbinary, BIPOC, chronically ill, neurodivergent, and otherwise done building inside extractive systems.

We are the people who should have owned this infrastructure from the beginning, and we are done waiting our turn.

If you stand with us, you are welcome here, whatever boxes you do or don’t fit.

The lineage this stands on

We name our teachers.

  • José María Arizmendiarrieta and the Mondragon cooperative federation, born from Basque resistance and economic exclusion.
  • REI and the consumer cooperative model, where members receive patronage dividends from the surplus they helped create.
  • Indigenous cooperative governance principles, which predate Western cooperative law by centuries and center land, community, and intergenerational accountability.
  • The feminist economists, solidarity economy builders, and regenerative practitioners doing this work in the margins of extractive capitalism.

Not citing is epistemicide.

Your body of work has been waiting long enough.

Your work deserves to travel further than your own two hands can carry it.

OoSo Studio™ gives you a co-author who has read all of it, holds all of it, and helps you keep putting it out. In your voice, on your terms, on your own machine.
